I recently found out how the content creator "No One of Consequence" uses a similar system that I use "or should I say . . . used". Previously I was using a modified Old-School Essentials Advanced Fantasy system that used house rules mostly from AD&D.
Basically, he and I used the same modified system, sure the house rules may not have been the same but a lot of what he uses I also use in my own modified system. No One of Consequence uses a similar system only he uses B/X with modified house rules much like I use.
One thing that differs between our systems is he only uses the 7 core classes from B/X while I used those 7 core classes alongside third party Old-School Essentials classes pulled from the core books and Carcass Crawler magazines.I watched his play lists where he used his modified B/X system to run groups through modules like Temple of Elemental Evil, Against the Giants series, the Drow trilogy and Queen of the Demonweb Pits which I found to be pretty damned impressive. I'm not going to lie, I've been mulling over the idea of moving to a modified system using B/X and pulling my Old-School Essentials house rules over to it for quite some time but, I was always worried that it would not be the same as my modified Old-School Essentials system. Since watching the playlists on No One of Consequence channel, I think I am making the move. So, here is where I am at now from the point forward.
I'll be running the B/X system and I'll be importing house rules from Old-School Essentials as well as Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. I'll be using the Magic Compendium Companion for the larger and more advanced selection of spells for all classes. The core game system I will be using will be the B/X system.
