Westbridge Supplies occupies a sturdy timber building along the main road, where a wide doorway allows bulky purchases to be carried straight to a waiting cart. Coils of rope hang beneath the porch, and barrels, bundled canvas, and wooden crates stand against the walls inside. The floor is scuffed from heavy loads, while the air smells of leather, oil, and fresh-cut wood.
Most customers arrive with a particular job in mind: repairing a wagon, outfitting a riverboat, or preparing for several days beyond the village. The shop specializes in equipment for travel and outdoor work.
Its shelves hold packs, waterskins, lanterns, bedrolls, tents, fishing tackle, and weatherproof coverings. Hunters purchase snares and sturdy straps, ferrymen come for rope and replacement oars, and farmers buy tools and sacks during the busy seasons. A small selection of shields and ordinary weapons is kept behind the counter, though customers needing armor or substantial metalwork are directed to the Hammer & Nail Smithy. The owner, Garran Voss, is a broad-shouldered man in his forties with a stiff left knee and a practical knowledge of the surrounding countryside. He once earned his living accompanying merchant wagons, and still tests straps, buckles, and stitching before accepting goods from a supplier. Garran gives blunt advice about what travelers should carry and will readily recommend a cheaper item if it suits the task. He repairs damaged packs and canvas himself, charging according to the work rather than the customer’s apparent wealth.
Westbridge Supplies receives much of its stock through traders from Portown and Saltmarsh, so prolonged rain or trouble along the roads can leave certain shelves bare. Garran sets aside essential goods for the village militia and keeps a record of larger orders awaiting delivery. Adventurers will find him useful for both equipment and practical information: he knows which trails swallow wagon wheels, where fresh water can usually be found, and which customers have returned with supplies damaged in ways they cannot easily explain.
